Depending on where you are on your business journey, there are things you can do now to make it easier on yourself down the road that will set your business up for success.
Do these things diligently daily and you will thank yourself down the road
Meet People
Balance your time online with your time in real life. Be intentional about your physical presence. Meet people as often as you can as there is so much you can gain from face‑to‑face communication that the online world can’t give.
It may be easier to message, post and share content but, that in‑person presence is so different. Get to know your customers, drop in on your local competition, buy from similar stores and attend community events.
Be polite. Where there is no need to, never make bad comments about other vendors, stores, or handles online, be positive and supportive.
Get Organized
Have an easy to reach contact list. Separate the personal from the business and keep a business contact number. Down the line you may be looking for a customer’s or supplier’s contact details and you’ll be grateful you know where to find them immediately.
Keep a list of your new products, pictures and videos on this number and be ready to answer any queries with them. Backup stuff as often as you can on the cloud if you can and end each business conversation by making a backup.
Delete any product or service that you no longer offer but save everything you delete in case you decide to add something back in or you may need to refer back to a particular quote or item.
Don’t Rush
Sometimes something comes on trend or you have the chance to buy it at a discount for your business but, are not sure if your usual customers will like it. Or you are cash strapped and might have to borrow the money to buy the stock.
Don’t rush, stop and have a think. Have a second think and a third. Pay attention to the community to learn who is a good fit for your business idea. If their content includes stuff that you want to sell and will be getting at a good price, ask for feedback and revisit the idea if the response is positive and there is a good chance that you will make money.
Do not forget to ask for reviews and as reviews come in, add them to your posts on your groups or the platforms you are on. Reviews (positive) will help you get the stock sold as quickly as possible.
